Some Social Media Tips / Notes
A few bulletpoints from a social media magic university course, I am currently taking.
Social media is personal, friendly, positive, and most of all, relational. If a brand creates their presence without keeping these attributes in mind, their success will be limited.
With that in mind, here are some great notes that may help you in your social media quest.
Part 1 - Strategy
Social Media Strategy - Who
1. Define the attributes of your best customers
- 3 levels deep - who, no, really who. (soccer moms with 2 kids who own brown minivans and listen to enya - yes really know)
2. Define your brand in terms of the other persons interests
3. Differentiate your brand and message
Narrow your Target Audience
- attributes
- demographics
- psychographics
- who can we eliminate?
- geographic area
What challenges is the target audience facing?
What are the biggest pain points?
What are their biggest fears and wants?
What triggers their decisions to buy?
Narrow your message
- speak directly in YOU terms
- elevator pitch 2-3 sentences
- wording - you know how ...
- b2b - businesses are always looking to get more customers? I helped them do it. this is how.
- what is your unique value proposition? Ensure you tell people.
Define your partners
- who else is selling to my audience?
- what else does my audience want?
- How could I broaden my audience?
- cooperative, not competitive.
This is a great start to a great course. I will be adding more content related to social media marketing to come. I hope you find it useful.
